Construction of Spotify Camp Nou accelerates during Barcelona's summer break
Renovations at Barcelona's Spotify Camp Nou stadium continue well into the summer break, with construction company Limak using the absence of football matches to speed up key stages of the project.
With no football matches on Spotify Camp Nou, the long-awaited renovation of Barcelona's stadium is entering one of its most important phases. Since Barca's last home La Liga match against Real Betis on May 17, construction company Limak has been able to work without interruption, taking advantage of the window that will last until mid-August to push the project forward, reports SPORT.
While fans eagerly await the full reopening of their stadium, the pause in sporting activity has provided a significant boost to renovation work. While the World Cup has provided plenty of football moments, Barcelona fans are counting down the weeks until they can see their team again at the revamped Spotify Camp Nou.
According to the report, the Joan Gamper Trophy is expected on August 19, leaving approximately nine weeks before fans can return to the stadium. La Liga is due to begin on the weekend of August 15 and 16, but teams with players involved in the latter stages of the World Cup are likely to begin their campaigns on August 26, giving Barca extra time to complete their preparations.

Not having to constantly pause construction due to first team matches allowed Limak to significantly increase the pace of work. Logistical issues that previously slowed progress have disappeared, allowing workers to focus on key project milestones. Recent aerial photographs show clear progress, especially at level three. Concrete work has already been completed in several sections, while welding and waterproofing work is currently underway ahead of seat installation.
The club's goal remains the same - to gradually introduce the third level in the 2026/27 season. As with the lower levels, the opening of the upper section will be carried out in stages. Barcelona officials are in no hurry to set exact dates after previous delays, but internal estimates suggest October is the target date for the first increase in capacity. Maintaining the current pace of construction will be critical to achieving these ambitions.
Equally important will be obtaining the necessary administrative approvals from the Barcelona City Council. The opening of a third level would also provide a practical solution to one of the club's concerns. Barcelona hope to move opposing fans to this level, which will reduce some of the stress and inconvenience experienced by season ticket holders during certain high-traffic matches.
While there are no football matches inside the stadium, this creates an opportunity for the club to speed up work and take a step towards the full restoration of Camp Nou. When fans finally return, they will find the stadium significantly transformed, with many new features yet to be implemented.
