Kazuyoshi Miura, the oldest professional footballer at 59, has extended his contract for another year.

Kazuyoshi Miura holds the record as the oldest professional footballer in the world. He will begin his 42nd season after the summer. He began his career with Santos in Brazil in 1986 and has also played for clubs in Italy, Croatia, Australia, Portugal and of course his native Japan. Fukushima United signed Miura on a six-month loan in December, which proved successful and the striker secured a new contract. “I decided to continue my project at Fukushima United. I will work with passion and devote myself to training every day to help advance into J2, Japan's second tier,” Miura said. He made his debut for the Japan national team in 1990 and made 89 appearances for his country, scoring 55 goals.
