Liverpool sign Victor Munoz for €40 million

Liverpool have completed a deal to sign Osasuna winger Victor Muñoz, activating his €40 million clause. This was the first purchase in the new era of Andoni Iraola. Interest in Munoz grew, especially after his participation in the FIFA World Cup, and although Newcastle were also interested, Liverpool managed to complete the deal at short notice.

According to a report from DAZN, Kiko Espinar, Liverpool's regional scout for Spain and Portugal who has been with the club since 2015, is behind the deal. Espinar has already led successful signings for Liverpool, including Louis Diaz and Stefan Bajcetic, and his work played a key role in the Munoz deal.


“His meticulous and analytical approach has become an important link between La Liga and Endfield,” the report said. Espinar had been following Muñoz since he played for CF Damm's youth team and quickly realized that he fit the bill at Liverpool. "The transfer of Munoz is not a fluke, but the result of a long-term strategy in which Kiko Espinar played a key role. The striker has been on the club's radar from an early age," the report adds.

Liverpool are expecting major changes under Iraola this summer and Munoz's move fits perfectly with the club's plans as the likes of Mohamed Salah and Federico Chiesa are expected to leave the team. The deal was completed in recent days and Muñoz underwent a medical at Spain's training camp ahead of the World Cup.
