Ex-Inter player Hakan Şukur is accused of terrorism and deprived of all his funds: “I did everything, even cleaned”

Hakan Sukur, the legendary ex-Inter and Galatasaray striker, has faced serious difficulties after expressing his dissatisfaction with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. As a result, he was accused of terrorism, and all his assets in Turkey were frozen. Shukur has now returned to his passion of football, working as a YouTube commentator, coaching young players and organizing summer camps.

In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, he shared his experience: “I did everything, even cleaned, but it was not my job... My life, even in such conditions, remains connected with football.”

He continued: "My life has changed a lot over the years. I have gone through difficult times due to unfair circumstances. I have lost, at least for now, a lot of what I earned through football: all my assets are frozen. These experiences have taught me the importance of two words: resilience and patience."

Shukur concluded his touching testimony with hope for the future: “Today I am focused on my family, my children, the sporting events I support and the kids I try to help. Despite everything, I continue to be grateful and look forward to the future with hope, and I also fight for the truth and against all the accusations that are brought against me.”
