Dovbik: “Everything was decided with Atletico, but I chose Roma because of De Rossi. His dismissal was unrealistic”

Artem Dovbik shared his thoughts about the move to Roma and how his relationship with Daniele De Rossi developed in an interview for the Ukrainian YouTube channel Rosso Dritto. The striker said that he was close to moving to Atlético Madrid, but in the end he decided to choose the Roman club because of the confidence that his then coach expressed in him. "Everything was almost agreed upon with Atlético, but then suddenly the answers stopped coming. At that time De Rossi called me and there was an immediate connection between us. I said that I would wait for Atlético a little longer, but when I realized that the situation had stalled, I gave him my word and chose Roma. Even when Atlético approached me again, I had already made my decision." Dovbik also expressed surprise at the quick dismissal of the former midfielder: “I would never have thought that De Rossi would be sacked after just three matches. For me, after Totti, he is Roma’s greatest legend. I wondered how such a figure could be sacked so early. For me it was something unreal.”
